She loved him. She had always loved him. He loved her. He knew he would love her forever. Their souls recognized one another. They spent almost every day together. They were inseparable. Where she went, he went. Where he went, she went. Each night they were torn apart by unknowing forces, unaware that they were tearing kindred souls apart, unaware of the soul-deep suffering they were causing. The day came when he came no more. She was lost. She ran away to try and find the other half of her soul. They brought her back. She left, again. They brought her back, again. Finally, she understood that she would have to be patient and wait. She understood, on a soul-deep level, that one day their souls would be reunited. She would go on. Her soul would wait, patiently, for his. When you are five years old, all things seem possible.
